Company History of Green Mtn. Concert Services

Founded in 1995, GMCS began operations by providing security at established Vermont venues such as Memorial Auditorium and the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. Providing security for the Grateful Dead in Highgate, Vermont in 1995 first attracted industry-wide recognition.

While building success in Vermont, GMCS branched out to other large-scale special events including the Gathering of the Vibes, Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Taste of Country, and Phish festivals. Subsequent contracts with the ESPN Great Outdoor Games and the Winter X Games, U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships, Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, and others further developed GMCS as a New England leader in event security. By 2004 the company was employing more than 300 people part-time and had established strong relationships with an extensive client base.

In 2010, GMCS joined the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) and added Clery Act training to its professional development suite. By 2014 GMCS was providing a range of services to colleges and universities throughout the Northeast. GMCS maintains an active membership and role in the Event Safety Alliance (ESA), working on the cutting edge of event safety knowledge and practices.

GMCS has continued to grow by expanding the scope of security services offered. Corporate security and dedicated venue security management have become an integral piece of the business. Building on their experience with campus event security GMCS has become highly involved with offering a complete range of security services to dozens of colleges and universities. Large venues and organizers including Live Nation, and Spectra Management rely on GMCS for their event security needs. GMCS continues to grow, capitalizing on our collective experience, investing in our team, and delivering outstanding customer service to our clients.

In 2020 GMCS supported response efforts to COVID-19. During the height of the pandemic, GMCS provided safety and security services at Medical Centers, remote testing facilities, and alternative shelters for the homeless. GMCS assisted colleges and universities in safely reopening their campuses and ensuring the health and safety of the students and faculty. GMCS also helped event promoters safely run outdoor events and drive-in shows, and in some cases enforced rules to safely host indoor events.

Today GMCS has an extensive resume that spans diverse industries and markets, each with different needs and challenges.
